Hi, I’m Kelsey Wright…
MSW/RSW (Registered Social Worker) & RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor)
About Me
Experience
I’ve spent the past 15 years working in the mental health and addictions field, supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, substance use, and the pressures that come with modern life. My professional work—and my own healing journey—have shaped the counsellor I am today. I don’t believe we’re ever “finished” with our growth, and the tools that supported me are the same approaches I feel honoured to share with clients.
My Approach
I work from a holistic lens, recognizing the deep connection between the mind and body. Western culture often encourages us to stay in our heads, but our emotions and nervous system hold just as much wisdom. In our work together, we might explore thoughts and patterns and integrate somatic practices that help you feel grounded, regulated, and more connected to yourself.
Therapeutic Modalities
I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including:
IFS / Parts Work – Helps you understand different “parts” of yourself, especially the protective ones, so you can respond with more compassion and clarity rather than from old survival patterns.
EMDR Therapy – Supports deeper healing by reprocessing past experiences that continue to shape present-day stress, triggers, and beliefs.
Somatic Approaches – Focus on the body’s cues and sensations to help regulate the nervous system and build a greater sense of safety and connection.
CBT & DBT Skills – Provide practical tools for coping in the moment, grounding during triggers or cravings, and better understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) – Helps you identify your core values and take steps that align with the life you want, even in the presence of difficult feelings.
Mindfulness-Based Tools – Build awareness, presence, and self-regulation by helping you slow down and notice what’s happening inside with less judgment.
Together, these approaches support both moment-to-moment stability and deeper healing from past experiences that continue to shape your present.
Qualifications
I hold an MSW (Master of Social Work) with a Collaborative Specialization in Addictions Studies from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. I am also a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) as of February 2025.

Creating a Safe Space
My priority is to offer a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and not judged. Healing takes courage, and I’m committed to walking alongside you—steadily, collaboratively, and at your pace. My goal is to help you build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and create lasting change that feels aligned with who you are.
Community Connection
Alongside my private practice, I work with a local health authority’s mental health clinic. I also facilitate harm-reduction groups for alcohol and substance use, which keeps me closely connected to the needs of our community.
A Bit About Me
When I’m not in session, you’ll most likely find me outside—biking, hiking, climbing, snowboarding, or finding a new swim spot with my dog, Buffy. Squamish is home, and spending time in these mountains and waters is a big part of how I stay grounded.
